Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We remain committed to our patients and employees in this time of crisis.

We continue to rise to the challenge of caring for our patients during this time of crisis. In order to comply with the most up-to-date guidelines provided by the CDC, we are implementing the following changes starting immediately:

  • Waiting area chairs are being spaced to allow for the appropriate 6ft. between each, which may mean removing chairs

  • If this means there is only space for 1 patient to wait at a time, any additional patients will be asked to wait in their car until it is time to go back for their exam. You will then be called when it is time to see the doctor

  • Only patients are allowed in the exam room, with the exception of patients who are minors requiring a legal guardian or patients requiring physical assistance of a guardian/ family member. All other family members and guests will be asked to wait in their car until the conclusion of the visit

In addition, we ask that you review the following and consider rescheduling your appointment if you meet any of these criteria:

  • Have you been out of the country or anywhere with a travel advisory within the last 14 days?

  • Have been exposed to someone who is suspected of having COVID-19?

  • Are you over 60 years of age?

  • Have you had any flu-like symptoms within the past 48 hours including:
    • fever
    • cough
    • shortness of breath
    • runny nose
    • diarrhea

We thank you for your patience during this time.

Please know that we are vigilantly monitoring the COVID-19 situation around the clock. This pandemic is presenting a unique and difficult challenge to our doctors and staff, and we are committed to putting your health and safety at the forefront. In this climate, we know vision care may not be your first thought, but our doctors have an obligation to be present in times of crisis to evaluate eye health and assist in any vision-related emergencies or injuries. The safety of our patients and employees is our top priority, and are actively discussing the need to keep our offices open each day.

Our staff has been instructed to adhere to a rigorous cleaning schedule to include commonly touched surfaces, doorknobs, etc. throughout the day to ensure a sterile environment. We always consider our office one of the cleanest places you can visit, and especially so at this time.

We will be calling you before your appointment, as well as inquiring at check-in, to ask if you have any symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath. If you have any of these symptoms, we will reschedule your appointment and encourage you to call your doctor immediately. If you have no symptoms but have had contact with someone who has a fever or cough or tested positive for the Coronavirus, we will also ask you to reschedule your appointment for at least 14 days in the future.

We also acknowledge the need for patients aged 60+ to further limit contact by avoiding public places and recommend rescheduling your eye exam for a date in late April or early May at this time. While this guidance currently is to avoid public areas and we recommend that you schedule an appointment at a later date. If this is for an emergency we will make special arrangements for you to come into the office.

If you find yourself in need of medical assistance due to an eye emergency, please contact us as we are happy to discuss the coordination of care. Visiting an ER or Urgent Care at this time is of much higher risk than a visit to us, and we will work with you to determine the best treatment plan. We look forward to the day COVID-19 is appropriately dealt with and behind us, and assure you we will be here waiting with open doors to serve you in the future.

Stay safe and healthy.
